Sidem dive site description
Sidem is a dream dive for macro lovers and underwater photographers. Located just a few minutes from the main Tulamben strip, this black-sand site offers fantastic muck diving in calm, protected waters. The slope is gentle, the current is minimal, and the wildlife, well, it’s mind-blowing.
Amed Jepun Divers loves Sidem for its ability to surprise. Sidem muck dive offer creatures that hide in the sand, among the debris, and beneath small coral patches. It’s a dive where you slow down, scan carefully, and discover a universe in miniature.
On the right side of the bay, a vibrant coral wall emerges, colorful, healthy, and teeming with life. It’s one of the most intact reef structures in the Tulamben area and offers a beautiful contrast to the sandy macro zone. This section is perfect for beginners building confidence on a reef, as well as for advanced divers looking to enjoy coral diversity in calm conditions.
Common sighting in Sidem
Sidem’s sand holds secrets. You might spot large variety off nudibranch, or flamboyant cuttlefish pulsing across the bottom, a pair of harlequin shrimp dancing on a starfish, or a well-camouflaged frogfish barely distinguishable from the rock it perches on. Seahorses, mimic octopus, and ghost pipefish all make regular appearances.
Night dives here are especially thrilling. Squid, eels, and hunting lionfish come alive under torchlight, while sleeping parrotfish and shrimp retreat to shelter. For photographers chasing rare shots and critter enthusiasts with sharp eyes, Sidem is a must-dive.
