Batu Ringgit dive site description
Batu Ringgit is a bold and beautiful dive site tucked between Tulamben and Amed. This volcanic reef dive is all about rugged charm: steep slopes, dramatic coral formations, and a sense of wild isolation beneath the waves. It's a site we often recommend to experienced divers looking for something different from the usual routes.
Accessed via shore with a bit of a walk, Batu Ringgit starts with a slope covered in healthy coral heads, sponges, and soft corals. The deeper you go, the more the terrain shifts, expect crevices, ridges, and the kind of dramatic contours that make every turn exciting. With less foot traffic than more famous sites, it feels pristine, like discovering a hidden part of Tulamben’s dive story.
Common sighting in Batu Ringgit
Marine life here is wonderfully varied. On the shallow slope, you’ll find reef fish like anthias, wrasses, and angelfish darting between coral heads. Look closer, and you’ll spot leaf scorpionfish, nudibranchs, and the occasional pygmy seahorse hiding in the gorgonian fans.
Batu Ringgit also offers chances to see bigger visitors, schools of fusiliers, jackfish, and even reef sharks or eagle rays if you’re lucky. The natural architecture here makes it a playground for both wide-angle and macro photographers, and the healthy coral cover is a strong indicator of the site’s vitality.
