Gerombong dive site description
Gerombong is one of Tulamben’s lesser-known, yet deeply rewarding dive sites. It consists of two distinct reef sections separated by a rocky slope, with a small underwater cavern nestled between. It’s this diversity, combined with low traffic, that makes it a special site for those seeking something off the beaten path.
At Amed Jepun Divers, we love bringing advanced divers here for a more exploratory experience. The topography changes frequently throughout the dive, from coral-covered ridges to sand channels and even lava rock formations. It’s a dive that keeps you guessing, with hidden alcoves and unexpected sightings at every turn.
Common sighting in Gerombong
Marine life at Gerombong is abundant and varied. You can expect large gorgonian fans housing pygmy seahorses, clouds of fusiliers, and territorial snappers darting between the reef. Moray eels and groupers linger in crevices, while the open water may reveal larger species like trevallies or even barracuda.
Macro photographers will find plenty to love, from ghost pipefish and nudibranchs to scorpionfish and shrimp. With its combination of structure, seclusion, and biodiversity, Gerombong is a site that seasoned divers often call their favorite hidden gem.
