Boga Wreck dive site description
The Boga Wreck, also called the Kubu Wreck, is a purpose-sunk ship that lies just north of Tulamben’s main dive zone. Sunk in 2012, this 40-meter-long cargo vessel rests upright on a sandy slope starting at 15 meters and descending to over 35 meters. It’s a deep, atmospheric dive that feels both eerie and majestic.
At Amed Jepun Divers, we recommend this site for advanced divers or those working toward their deep or wreck specialties. The ship is remarkably intact, making it an ideal training ground for wreck penetration practice (guided only). The deeper location means visibility is often excellent, and the surrounding area is starting to bloom with reef life as corals slowly colonize the hull.
Common sighting in Boga Wreck
While still young compared to the Liberty wreck, the Boga wreck is already attracting a vibrant community of marine life. Expect to see schools of fusiliers darting past the bridge, lionfish guarding stairwells, and large groupers hiding beneath the deck. Moray eels, clownfish, and angelfish have also made their homes inside the wreck.
On the sandy slope, look for stingrays, garden eels, and flounders. At deeper levels, eagle rays or even reef sharks might glide by. With fewer crowds and a quieter ambiance, Boga Wreck offers a more meditative wreck dive, ideal for those looking to go deeper, both literally and figuratively.
