Drop-Off dive site description
Just a short walk from Tulamben beach near the Liberty USAT wreck lies a natural underwater wall that drops dramatically into the deep, a site we simply call the Drop-Off.
Starting on a volcanic slope, the reef suddenly gives way to a steep wall adorned with soft corals, sea fans, and vibrant sponge life. It's a stunning backdrop for divers of all levels and a favorite among underwater photographers.
What we love most at Amed Jepun Divers is how this dive can be anything you want it to be: a relaxed exploration at 15 meters, or a deep adventure hugging the vertical face down to 30 meters or beyond.
Mornings are usually calm and clear, with beautiful natural light and the chance to see pelagics cruising just off the wall.
Common sighting in Drop-Off
The Drop-Off is alive with reef activity and surprises in the blue. Look closely among the coral for nudibranchs, lionfish, and ribbon eels. In the mid-water, schooling fusiliers and jackfish shimmer like silver clouds.
Keep your eyes peeled, whitetip reef sharks and even barracudas sometimes glide along the deeper edge. Closer to the surface, turtles and angelfish hover along the top of the wall.
The site’s structure allows for beautiful multi-layered marine life encounters, making it as rewarding for macro hunters as it is for those scanning the open blue.
