1. Learn about reefs and coral restoration
Your journey begins with an easy-to-follow presentation that introduces you to the foundations of coral biology. You’ll learn how corals grow, the difference between hard and soft corals, and how restoration projects are managed.
These insights help you understand the reef more deeply when you see it during the snorkeling session.
2. Snorkel and explore the nursery
After gearing up with a mask, snorkel, and fins, you’ll head to the Lipah nursery in Amed.
From the surface, your guide will point out coral structures, restoration frames, and young colonies growing in the nursery. You’ll see firsthand how coral fragments develop into thriving coral heads.
3. Plant a coral and give back to the reef
To end your experience, you’ll work with the marine biologist to fragment a coral from a donor colony and attach it to a substrate.
You’ll plant your coral in the nursery, where it will be monitored until strong enough to be outplanted to the reef.
