Day 1: Introduction to corals
Your course begins with a clear, engaging introduction to coral biology. You’ll explore what corals are, how they function, and the differences between hard and soft coral groups. You’ll also learn how colony shapes reveal important ecological roles.
Two guided dives follow, where you’ll identify corals and reef structures in the wild, building confidence as you connect theory with the living ecosystem.
Day 2: Hard corals
On day two, the focus shifts to reef-building corals. You’ll study five genera of small-polyp hard corals and five genera of large-polyp hard corals, understanding how each contributes to reef structure and habitat.
Two additional dives allow you to explore new reef zones, practicing genus-level identification and reinforcing scientific observation skills underwater.
Day 3: Soft corals and coral planting
Soft corals take center stage on the final day. You’ll learn to recognize five soft coral genera adapted to currents and surge.
During your final dive, you’ll dive the coral nursery, harvest a fragment from a donor colony, and plant your own coral, leaving a positive, lasting impact on Bali’s reef future.
