What you will learn during the course
The SSI Stress and Rescue specialty helps you recognize, prevent, and respond to diving stress and emergency, in yourself and in others.
Through theory, confined water practice, and real-world open water scenarios, you'll learn techniques for handling panicked divers, surfacing unresponsive divers, and managing rescue logistics.
Prerequise to the Stress and Rescue course is the React Right certification, where you will learn first aid, CPR, oxygen administration, and how to use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED). It’s a powerful step toward becoming a more confident and capable diver.

The Stress and Rescue course in Amed is IDR 5.500.000, and the React Right first aid course is IDR 2.000.000.

Stress and Rescue Course Curriculum and Schedule
To start your SSI Stress and Rescue training, you’ll first need a valid emergency first response certification completed within the last 24 months. This could be React Right or an equivalent like EFR or Red Cross.
Once completed, the two-day Stress and Rescue course combines diving theory, confined water training, and rescue scenarios in the ocean.
You’ll earn an internationally recognized certification that never expires, a credential that proves you’re prepared to help when it matters most.
Emergency first response course
The React Right program covers primary and secondary care essentials and take 1 day to complete.
You'll learn how to assess a scene, manage a conscious or unconscious diver, and provide CPR, wound care, and shock management. It also includes training in the use of oxygen and AED devices, crucial skills for dive-related incidents.
Stress and Rescue specialty course
Once your first aid is complete, you’ll move into the in-water rescue program.
Our 2 days Stress and Rescue course will teaches you how to identify stress, prevent dive accidents, and conduct surface and underwater rescues.
You’ll practice emergency planning, approach strategies, diver recovery techniques, and tows, all in realistic, supportive scenarios that build true readiness.

How many days is the course?
The complete program takes three days, one day for React Right and two for the Stress and Rescue training, including ocean sessions.
What requirements do I need to start the course?
You need to be Open Water Diver certified and have completed an Emergency First Response course (React Right or equivalent) within the last 24 months.
What is the difference between React Right and PADI EFR?
The React Right and EFR cover similar content: CPR, first aid, and emergency response. React Right is SSI’s version and integrates seamlessly into SSI training systems. If you already hold a PADI EFR certification, you don’t need to redo React Right to join the Stress and Rescue course.
Can I start the theory before arriving?
Yes, we recomand you to start you theory before the course! With SSI's digital learning platform, you can begin studying online before your arrival and complete your course faster in Amed.
Is the Stress and Rescue course physically demanding?
It does involve active emergency scenarios, but we adapt to your pace. Our instructors support you every step of the way.
